Allergic rhinitis is a common disease that affects adults. It generates $2 to $5 billion in health expenditures yearly, impairs quality of life, and decreases work and school attendance. There are various treatments to manage this disease. Treatment is effective and safe and, therefore, a prime target for pharmacist prescriptive protocols. Educating and empowering pharmacists to appropriately screen and assess individuals with allergic rhinitis can improve patient access to care and prevent adverse outcomes.
